Boomer.. I think everyone can agree that the DL is a great hull for a 225. The 225 with the right setup can hit 80 mph. Just make sure you get one with a dry core.

I agree that in some cases getting past at 100 mph is risky. But there is some cases that are not. For instance... Tom in his charger doing 80 and a talon 22 doing 100 is not wreckless... Me doing 80 beside Tom in his charger doing 80 with in 5 feet WRECKLESS..
Diffrent ball games... But a responsible operator can make the right disisions in any situation.

how do you like your DL ? im looking at one near me without a motor.. i am thinking about swappin the v6 off the winder and putting the 85 hp back on... 225 hp on a winder is nuts i hit 71mph and i am satisfied. I think if i push it any more im asking for trouble (i can feel my balls shrinking as i type).. what kind of speed do you get out of the charger?
......Latly i'v found myself dreaming about 80mph in the winder just too shut up the no good doogooders and haters who told me i couldnt do 70.....

Good setup sidewinder shouldnt be too scary. I recently went 71.9 in mine with a 150 2L so you have a lot more potential with yours. If I had the money I wouldnt hesitate on putting any less then a 200 on the back. My buddy has a 18DL with a 175 2.4L, goes 70.9 and I kill him in 1/4 mile. All in the setup.

nice my buddy has an 18' dl with an e-tech 150,, he hasnt been out since my first ride i think he is somewhere around 70 mph aswell........... i wonder if it would even be worth my while getting a new hull or if i should work on my setup, a little more room onboard would be nice as i barly have enough room for my fuel throw a couple females in and it getts a lil stuffy,, but on the other hand, who the hell has a 225 hp sidewinder lol,,,

see i dunno iv always wanted a charger since i was like 10 lol but i notice alott of people with them...3 of my buddys have a charger one dl one TV and one stv so i kinda have been trying too find a similar less comon hull but i guess if i cant beat em i might aswell join em... there must be a reason i see so many, ...

i dont try too run into people lol the only time i was within 10 feet of my buddy,,, tv and i that nearly launched into eachother was one of our first launches and i assure you we didnt launch that close together after that one..risky busness i agree but isnt any new toy a lil insain at first. theres always a learning curve..im still hear typing so i dont think i'm doing too bad ;),,,i kept er wet side down ;) and i had to brain power too slow down after i hit 70 at least lol cheers

A good DL with a good excel/225 will run in the 80's...with a good setup. Mine ran 79 with no setup and no LWP.

Yeah it's called the dump....

the 850 has next too no hours and runs great the winder just got a new transom like a month ago...it would be a good boat for a kid or someone who just wants to get on the water and maby pull a tube or kneeboard.

Yup I am with Mitchie. I wouldn't want to be next to you when you take off either a la the end of the video from the cameraman's boat. I can appreciate living on the edge and having fun be doing it safely with consideration for others is important.

the cameraman almost hits me if you didnt notice i got the launch and he almost his me from behind...so how about going onto youtube and telling nakedandfamous how you all feel about our driving...

The thread that won't die....I thought you were letting this all go???

So, not sure who you were asking this too but I really enjoy my DL. As the others have said any older boat including DLs you need to make sure are not rotten or be prepared to dump cash and time into it. I got lucky with mine. The Hull isn't as fast as say a Vking but is more forgiving. When setup properly a DL is plenty fast for me. I have not spent a lot of time tinkering with my setup but the Dok told you how fast he ran the hull...
