That thing needs a speedmaster on it. An SST45 lower unit will bolt right on!

I was thinking about an SST45 lower. I was just worried it would tear it up quick. Think one would hold up?

From an appearance view. The SST45 lower unit would look perfect. If your plan is to run it on a Critchfield. then there are mixed reviews. Most didn't work out that well especially the SST45. Likely due to the small diameter prop. The Gordon's had better results with their SST90 powered Rapid Craft. Back in early 70's, late 60's the Mercury speedmasters on the inline motors worked very well.

Here is what I would use for a lower unit. Use a nitro case with a low water pick-up nose cone. Get a billet carrier from Mike Hooper to replace the stock carrier. Loan one of the T guys 12 x 25 props. You will need to protect the water pump from the exhaust, so you may need an inner case.

How about Mod exhaust pipes out side of block?...test that at Conservation Park.

I still have a couple aluminum water pump housings left so I should be good without using the inner exhaust can.

I wonder if anyone has had their launch pass revoked at Conestogo Lake before? I could be the first  I honestly can't stand the sound of mod megaphone exhaust. Something about the same sound as my 56 is good for me.
