I played with some ideas mixing OMC 2 cylinder parts and 3 cylinder parts last fall.
I was able to put a 3 cylinder cowl and pan on the 2 cylinder which made it possible to remove the cylinder head on the 2 cylinder without removing the pan. Makes inspection easy. I had to use a different skirt [tohatsu] to cover the larger space under the pan.
I next tried to put the 2 cylinder steering arm in the 3 cylinder steering bracket. The 2 cylinder steering arm is longer than the 3 cylinder. Just needed some spacers.
I wanted to have the 2 cylinder look the same as the 3 cylinder and be able to switch motors on the same boat to run both T750 and T850.
Doable, but after mocking up the package. Too much work to make it look perfect.
Next spring I will try to fit my Mercury 44XS cowl and pan with the 2 cylinder OMC. Run two water dumps out the back of the pan like a V6 Merc, paint the mid black and mount my SST60 gear case with 2 cylinder gears. Use PRO 50 yamaha trim.
