They are seeing outboard manufacturers in Asia stepping up and supporting a 15 hp 4 stroke tiller class. Ron Hill has been promoting similar sized motors with race props. This video has a large number of entries. All motors appear to be out of the box stock motors. The boats are all similar as well.
I think we could do something similar here. The hull could be a light build open style delta. No deck but the hull should have a setback built into the boat and a foam core type floor so the boat will float should it flip.
The boats would all be the same. The motors would be 15 hp 4 stroke. One or more manufacturers may want to support the class with special deals on motors . I am sure Ron Hill would help by developing props for the class.
There could be a winter work shop where entries in the class meet and work together to build boats.

What do you have in mind size wise? Something like the mini voodo, a 14’ boat or something in between? What’s the vision? I know it’s been discussed here before. Would the boat be able to accommodate 15-30 hp or 15/20 only? I’m just looking at the current GT/APBA rules. I myself would like to see a sit down boat that can be used for marathon racing. Something light weight, say 200 lbs or less, is it doable? I know on the hydro side we are going to see boats specifically built for the 4 stroke production motors. Would like to see options on the utility side. I see things going on but have not seen the right boat yet over here.

I know how much effort it takes to develop a new class. You need several serious individuals who want to develop a new class and are willing to spend their time and money to get the class started. There wasn’t any issue with TORC or CBF . They are open to new ideas.
You can see on the internet other classes developed in countries. The USA can’t seem to get the 4 strokes racing either. They have way more members in clubs and people like Ron Hill supporting 4 strokes.

The 15 hp 4 stroke is the only one currently getting interest in the states.

I put these ideas out of this site hoping that maybe others have a similar idea or just to get people thinking.
Oddly enough there are people interested and have ideas, BUT, they don’t want to post or get involved.

You mentioned the boat...your thought was mini Voodoo...well a couple of us thought the same thing. Just use the bottom and sides of the mini Voodoo. Put foam under the floor and side bracing.
You could also use the bottom portion of a delta .
