How hard is it to buy a new boat from the states and have it shipped to Canada? Taxes? Duties? And what ever else? Thanks |

It’s easy. Documentation is key. A new purchase from a dealer / manufacturer is pretty straight forward. If it’s a used package I’d suggest you have the seller have the signed bill of sale notarized. You’ll be dinged for HST on the value (converted to CDN $) when you cross the border. If you’re purchasing the boat on a trailer you’ll also have to deal with RIV (some as if you’re importing a motor vehicle). Home built trailers are an issue. I know of people who’ve had to leave a boat on a home built trailer at the border and return with a “legal” trailer. |

That's interesting. Thanks for the reply. I've been thinking of an Allishot with a drag top for quite some time now. Maybe this will happen by spring time.. We'll see. |

Yes was thinking. The Saint Laurence River can be pretty rough at times. I was thinking of up grading my 56 OMC, Delta to something a bit bigger. My wife will still need a bit of coxing before she gets in with me though. |

Well that's what I have in mind. Just checking to see if it's feasible. Do I go get it myself or.... I have a couple of friends that are international truckers. Maybe they could pick it up for me. Gonna work on this, this winter. |

Do the road trip! Take the opportunity to go meet Jack, see his operation....it’s worth the trip. Super guy to deal with. If you’re not in a position to make the drive talk to him about transport. I know there’s a handful of FTP hulls that will be getting shipped up over the next 6 months. |

I believe that's a two day trip just to get there. If it was closer, I would definitely go. Right now, the Government gives me only a 72 hour pass to go and get back before I am subjected to a bunch of tests and a 14 day isolation period. |

I think you need the test within 72 hours of your return. So you could get tested in the US a day or two before you hit Canada. There are quick test places in the Detroit area |
