The 10% tariff on imported boats isn't so good for us in the boat business... |

I had read about the tariff in the Globe. The article said that more than 65 percent of our boats are imported. I could not think of 34 percent local. Thanks |

Hourston Glasscraft also make a large volume of shitty fiberglass boats out in Vancouver. And as Doc mentioned, several aluminium manufacturers in BC, aluminum hulls are very popular for saltwater use. Matt |

Does anybody know what the tariff all includes? Is it both new and used or just new boats only? Does it apply to full packages or do hull/trailer and motor have different tariffs? Does it apply to only metal boats or is it fiberglass as well? |

I believe it is just new boats...not full packages. From a dealers' perspective we need to ensure our manufacturers separate the motor and trailer on the invoice so we don't pay on the entire value of the package. I don't believe this will effect used boats. |

There are a few low production/custom manufacturers as well, such as Tuff in Cambridge and Blackbird in Port Sydney. |
