Does anyone know how slow you can run a 19J on a plane? Thanks |

I need 12-13 for a disk. Last year I used full throttle on our 8 HP tin boat. The 8 HP was not enough for my 40 lb heavier brother. |

With my Baja the driver had to saw the throttle to maintain 12-13. It was hard to maintain speed and used a surprising amount of gas. Can you maintain a constant throttle position at disk speed in a J? I need to try a chair this summer. |

Used to have a cottage on Go Home Lake(uncle owned the second marina after they built 69 hwy and my wifes uncle owned the first one on that lake when you had to access from Georgian Bay)and one of our close neighbors used to entertain us weekly with a disc and a chair. That was back in the late 60's. |

You wanna really freak people out??!! 1000' line, tied off to the stern lifting ring. The weight of the rope will drop it down into the water and at low speed it'll stay there..... Boat goes by at 8 or 9 mph then a while later a chair (or ladder) with some dude sitting on it goes cruising by......they don't even notice the disk. Garenteed to freak people out. |

I don't have 1000 feet of rope and I'm not about to buy it just to fool with people. It would be fun. I do have some old chairs, a disk, and a tinny with 8 HP. I normally start on the disk kneeling and then stand. Do you do the same while holding onto a chair? |

Yes, I lay on the disk until it starts to plow and then kneel on the disk with the chair or ladder over my left shoulder while hanging onto the handle and the disk with the other hand until it planes out. Then stand up on the disk, place the chair (the old wood style with the 4 wooden legs work the best) on the disc and then stand up on the chair or ladder. There is a trick to the ladder that as you go up the steps you have to turn sideways a bit to distribute the weight evenly. As you climb the ladder your weight moves forward and the disk will submarine ..... Just takes some practice. We tried to ski on a paddle last summer.....that is tough. |
