Post subject:  Ron Hill semi-cleaver on a Voodoo?

Anyone try a Ron Hill Semi Cleaver ( Calls it a Mitch Hardy) on a Voodoo or similar boat? How did it run. He has a couple on EBAY in a 12x20" 13 spline size for sale. My son's Voodoo with 50hp Evinrude is only used for lake running, not racing. Any other idea's for a prop? Definitely having trouble finding a used prop.
Thanks

What is a merchant cleaver? Just looking for a good all around prop not a top end one...

Merc Cleaver is a great all round prop. Bit heavy on torque steer but the way it bites makes it worthwhile.

Is a Merc cleaver over hub or through hub? If through hub would it fit a small gearcase OMC? Are the Merc cleavers easier to find?
DoktorC, how was the Ron Hill semi cleaver for taking off and just cruising around?

Thanks for the info guys!

The merc is a thru hub but they're usually very expensive. Its easier to find an inexpensive OMC cleaver which likely works better on your OMC anyways. I used mine to get from our ramp to the dock..I never really cruised in the boat lol. Hole shot was fine though.

For what it's worth, a Merc cleaver sucked on the VooDoo I had. 70 Nissan, long time ago. Very slow to plane and 10 mph slower than an SRX. My boat ran 57.6 on the rev limiter.

There is a huge amount of difference between good and bad props on these boats. I think an OMC cleaver is probably easiest to find used and obviously the Ron hill is easiest to afford new. I would have given my left nut for any of those props when I was 14 and was stuck with a stock suzuki stainless with no cupping lol.

Thanks for all the good info guys. I will keep an eye out for a used OMC cleaver over the next few months, if I can't find one by the summer then a Ron Hill it will be.
