Hi! Nope! Not dead, just been away from these forums for a while. To keep sane, I've been playing with some tweaking of the original Catch 10 I had about 15 years ago. This one's been scaled down by 20% and shortened another few inches to 7'4" long. Cockpit was shifted back and I added a third sponson. Borrowed from the Mirage, it has a step and a pad now, jack plate, setback, etc too. First trial run was a drop on and hope for the best at the Port Carling Antique Boat Show last weekend. My test pilot / monkey chickened out last min, so I shoehorned myself in. at least he brought his GoPro. Again no prior runs, just all guesswork and it hauls for only a stock 9.9 with a slightly dinged prop. *watch the clip at 0:53 it sits on the pad!* A true 8ft tunnel version with some changes again from the stock plans should be ready by Labour Day. It's getting a stripped down Merc 20. Over the winter I will build one at 11ft to run with either my 40hp two cyl Yama-mariner or 40 Magnum 4cyl. I think this hull could be a consideration for expanding classes, if that's an option down the road and I haven't just built a kite.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF29omRhPZo |
