Just wondering why the 22 Talon has become such a popular hull recently. There are four owned by members on this site, there is one on our bay at the cottage and a friend just traded his AE21 for the Yamaha powered Talon that was at Performance Recreation.

Fast (100 mph w/300) stable, capable of bigger water than most of our boats...
Still I think they are pretty rare, and they sure didn't sell when they were being built locally.

I am not questioning the performance or the looks. I am wondering why the interest over the last year or two.

My theory is - more room, handling bigger water, just as fast, stable... Kinda like trading in your Porsche for an SRT8 Cherokee.

For me its about timing. Many of us like the smaller boats but miss the socialization of destination boating. So the 22 Talon is a good compromise.

Also i I had not driven my Dad's would not have bought one.

What Talon is on your lake I know most of them.

The original idea when the 22' mold and was brought up here was that it was a natural upgrade for the STV guys and other "performance" small boat owners. It was considered an "Upgrade" for the reasons already listed, more room, bigger water, ability to mount twins etc. I just think the timing was off. Yes they were expensive but a quality built boat is, period. How many on here have bought a brand new performance boat? I know it's out of my reach with two kids in Uni BUT now would still be better than few years ago when the economy was still a bit in the toilet.

It's all Al's fault. I know after riding in his, if I had the coin I'd have one......
