too bad we cant buy em but imagine a 250 opti diesel with sportmaster! I could do a lot more boating at .97/liter of diesel vs 1.40ish a liter for premium.

I wonder if the rpm range is different then a gasser? would be cool to have mega diesel torque to pull a huge prop to 4000 rpm lol

i wonder what parts are needed to convert a gasser into a diesel. or if that would be possible..

thats what makes me wonder what the other 5% of the parts are?

they state that different heads are used,, glow plugs are listed what else..... ecu flash, compressor change maybe :D it couldn't be that complicated

Was there not posts on S&F that it is still spark ignited? There's no way they could only change 5% of parts and be able to survive compression ignition..

It's the giant Turbo that make diesel's worth owning that's missing....once they get that part figured out then I can see Boomer's ProStomp rollin' coal out of Bala Bay lol.

yep its still spark ignited, it doesn't need compression to run because the air injector behind the fuel injector atomises the fuel charge. allowing it to be ignited by a spark plug... fucking awesome.. it still has a glow plug for cold starts and they say to maintain combustion chamber temps at idle..

even though it isnt turbo'd 175 hp in a 3L is impressive for a non turbo diesel. i want to know torque numbers... my guess is there not very impressive considering the low compression non turbo platform.

i find the whole thing very cool. how ever if mercury had to turbo one of these the weight would increase greatly i would guess... no just from a turbo.. i have a feeling it wont go much further.

now one single 6.6 Duramax with about 800 hp and a two speed transmission in a tuff 28 would be interesting...
