super dry summer, what rain came must have been used to keep / maintain levels down stream

I was tracking the water levels in April like a trooper, since I was waiting to launch my boat.
Almost every lake on the Trent was at historic highs, you can see it on the website.
There's no chance anyone will get anything from that lawsuit based on this fact alone.
It was a 100 year flood that now happens every 5 years lol

I remember many years ago a summer storm on a small lake raised the water levels up 4 feet in a few hours,
there were docks floating around, empty boats all over the place, people returning neighbors docks lol.
From now on I secure my dock to the shore and my beer to the pier

I'm surprised the level at the pool and sparrow were as high as they were with the dry spell. Simcoe/Couch to thank.

Hard to feel bad for Toronto cottage owners who keep supporting Wynne and her government of flunkies. I wonder if the high water was to see how much they could get in the lakes as reserve for the Bala Falls thing. My Aunts dock on Rosseau is over 100 years old and my father is 84 and this year is the first time he saw it under water. Higher on Rosseau then last year.

I think most of the people in the law suit have the same history. Crib style docks and boathouses are the most common structures on the 3 lakes. These structures have lasted 100 years and never had the type of high water damage experienced in 2013 and 2016. There had been many years in the past 100 where there was far more run off than in 2013 and 2016. The previous years were managed better. The case will be based on the past run off history and the water levels on the lakes in the fall of 2012 and 2015. As a cottager on Lake Muskoka, the levels in the fall of 2012 and 2015 were much higher than normal. Had they been at their usual lower level, the water level would not have been over our docks.

Its no Different on the Trent. The water management has be lacking for the last few years. last fall the lake was at a record low at the start of december well over 2 feet down. my water lines were exposed and my boat house was dry I could walk end to end. In the 37 years I have been around it has never been like that. By xmas day we were back at summer heights and I could get my boat out. I am never able to get my boat out of the boat house after thanksgiving. The water remained high all winter in the spring (before the melt) we had a windstorm that blew the ice over the highway and through boat houses that were on shore. All of this was because the winter lake level was too high. In the spring the water was well over my crib docks and concrete for the boat house both sit 28inchs or more above summer high levels.

the water height in the spring of 2013 and 2016 were over my docks that have been there for 50+ years. it wasn't becasue of rain or melt we had dick all worth of snow and ice. The ice thickness on my lake was at a historic minimum
