I guess the 400 horse verado is all relative to the 300 xs 2 stroke for a larger hull opting for twin 400's versus triple 300 xs or triple 400's versus Quad 300 xs

300 xs .....505 lbs /300 hp = 1.67 lb/hp
400 verado.....687 lbs/400 hp = 1.71 lb/hp

pounds to horsepower are almost identical

300 xs = $ 18K US/ 300hp = $ 60.00 per hp
400 Verado = $ 27K US/400 = $ 67.50 per hp

$$ per hp are also pretty close.

I almost agree...a tuff 21 or Talon 22 though....they will hold up twins so you know they will float the veranda...and it's hard to argue with 400hp.

Now, a vking...not so much. There will be many bass boats with these as there is now with the 250-300 veranda though.

The expense will be a bigger barrier to entry than the weight I would think....especially since most of use run motors that are more than a decade old lol.

Some of us are still running 1988 motors with original pistons :o all kidding aside, as much as I dream of more power, the old excell is one of the most reliable motors I have ever owned . Right now today my choice for the ae would be a 3.1 hydrotech , I am keeping an open mind though .I am totally won over with four stroke sleds ( Yamaha of coarse, my friend I raced with a few years ago just sold both his Mach Z's and bought an Apex and cannot be happier.

Unless they can find a way to get the weight down on the 4 strokes I will be doinked. I don't think that is their mission though with boats getting bigger in general. I will need to win the lotto shortly and buy a brand new 175 HPDI before they are gone. Who am I kidding as this becomes a moot point after winning the lotto as I would then have a Tuff 21 and could run the bigger motors :)
