I have been thinking of a way to get Two T boats on a single trailer, one above the other. You can bolt an aluminium sling style 8 foot wide boat lift under the lower trailer. There is a clearance issue with the top trailer because of its wheel assembly and fenders. For the upper trailer I thought of using a small trailex alumium trailer frame, remove those parts and replace them with these wheels http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z429961426 Does anyone have any experience with them? Would they work? Anyone else working on a 2 up trailer? |

Todd, I need to be able to have the top trailer totally removeable and separate. Can your guy do that? |

Here is the idea. I already have 2 trailex aluminium trailers. The base trailer will handle up to a 16 foot boat. The top trailer will handle a 14 foot boat. I am going to remove the axle, wheels and fenders from it and add the wheels posted previously. Then I will get an aluminium boat lift like this one. http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z400308058 It is 8 ft wide, so legal width to tow. Mount it to the underside frame of the lower trailer. Likely use a 12 volt motor instead of the turn wheel to work the cables. The cables go under the top trailer and it raises and lowers. Once in the top position the second T boat fits under the top boat for trailering. At the races each boat has a separate trailer. Anyone see problems? |

this one doesn't look cobbled together! if the upperframe was notched for a trailer axle to sit into, the upper boat wouldn't be much higher if it was sitting on it's own trailer up there! |

It is the same idea. The top rack swings down. Boat lift style. You can see the clearance problem if you make the top rack a separate trailer, The axle and wheels would come down too low and hit the lower boat. You can position the plastic wheels on the top trailer to miss the lower boat. The top trailer is very light. You launch the lower boat, then lower the top trailer onto the lower trailer and launch the second boat, You then lift the top trailer off the lower trailer, you do not need ramps, that trailer is light. Now you load each boat on its own trailer. You do the reverse order after the races. Once the top trailer is up, you can add bars under the top trailer between the uprights, so it rests on them. The end product should not look cobbled at all. I like the 4 wheels on that trailer. I need to look into that. Thanks for your input. |

the upper deck cantilevers back so the axle and tires will be clear of the lower trailer! similar to a pontoon trailer except the supports are on the outside! |

Good point. That also explains the 4 wheels on the lower trailer. There would be a lot of stress on the back of the lower trailer when the top boat drops down. With that design I wonder if there is enough room under the top trailer to load the lower boat. By lifting the top trailer straight up you should be able to go higher and then lower it once the lower boat is on its trailer. Is there one of these trailers near by to go and look at? |

that trailer was specific built for the hulls!u.s. made! I posted it as a design reference only! It looks like it could be made to work with a separate trailer loaded on top! A fabricator would need to know what you wanted to carry before building to suit! A generic built trailer for this purpose would require many adjustment points to accept different hulls and trailers, driving the cost up! A trailer engineered to carry a specific hull and upper trailer would be a much simpler build as the load limit, height requirement and fastener locations would be fixed! I have a local certified fabricator, barge operator, that is available through the winter for projects like this! I could get you a ballpark figure with a bit of the Hull and trailer info you want to carry!or the payload trailer could be custom built to suit! |
