I've been messing around in the shop trying to find a way to make my long shaft 70 into a short shaft while using the original power trim unit. Lots of cutting, welding and making custom pieces but it looks like it will work as long as I don't go down to the last 1/2 inch of travel down on the trim or it will bind for steering. I will likely set up stops so it can't go down all the way. It still leaves lots for travel. I made solid mounts for the bottom which will be 1 piece next time instead of the mount with a spacer. I just didn't have the material I needed and wanted to get it done that night. Will I be allowed to run this? I just want to use what I have around the shop and keep costs down.

Thank you. I just bought Chris Gordon's Rapid craft and I'm planning to run that next season with a 56ci omc once I modify the cell. I have the 56 engine and will be working on it over the winter. I'm still in need of a nitro gearcase or preferably an SST-60 gearcase. Even a set of gears will work for me. I'm gonna need a couple props too.
