I finally decided to drag the old girl into the basement where it's warm and make it into something useful. This is going in the 16 DL I bought last winter and will be used on the lake here at the house for dragging the kids around the lake.

I bought the motor from RBT...it was a sinker...so with some JUNK from The Gun I hope it'll be a cheap motor for my kids to wreck lol.

So I started by pulling the sleeves and installing a set of excel sleeves that I scrounged from Boomer

Got the crank and pistons in...I even found a set of new yamaha rings.

Short block all buttoned up...still have to clean the gaskets on the heads but it's getting closer..

Nice dok! That will be a real nice combination. Can't wait to see Mitchie take the first tube run.

Are excell sleeves diffrent than the stock v4 ones ? Did you do it for performance gains?

Yeah tell me about it.... Why even modifiy a yamaha... Just buy a merc and start off where the yamaha ends up..... :shock:

:lol: looks pretty slick dok, did you have to do any grinding behind the sleeve to match the ports,, i cant wait to see this one go
