has anyone ran into a set of solid black 2.4l piston rings,, i'd like to run them if i can in my BP steel sleeves, next option is to buy 6 sets of chrome rings, it has 1 nikasil bore, 5 steel. :? rings came with the block

BP= big problem :lol: im about to say fuk it and go buy new rings.from paul. i know i can use chrome rings in both bores , dgaf. steel and nikasil. the nik one will wear out first, no big deal. :lol:

im starting to think these blick ones are chrome with a coating . who knows , not me ! figure someone out there might. :mrgreen:

Tin coated chrome rings are better in a nikasil bore, especially in a hipo application, but i run chrome rings in my nikasil sled motors. iv read its hard on the nikasil

chrome rings are cheap, i think the tin ones are outrageous from merc BUT if you can find someone to tin coat the chrome ones your in business

Jim Ruck......Wisconsin( 1-902-233-3833) can get titanium re-coated on Merc rings (under $200 for a set if I remember). The best price for new that I found was from Ted @ Speedmaster
