Many racers in T850 running OMC equipment have had their share of broken gear cases. Many are human error...no lube...no thrust washer...too tight on the nut. Other reasons are wear and tear. Some of the units were old to begin with. The problem they face now is lack of new parts...gears and poor quality new parts...carriers. The T750 OMC units share many of the same parts..case..prop shaft..carrier. The good news is most of the used ones and there are lots of them around, are good. So it maybe better to get one of those T750 units for parts rather than buy new. Mike Hooper offers billet aluminium carriers so that is a good option. Our main source for parts Seaway was out of stock for the gear sets. With the 70 cent dollar and the need for gear sets we should look into having some made in Canada. The best prevention is to catch and fix them before they destroy themselves. Racers with extra complete units need to bring them to the races.

I believe he is in the process of making them, I'm heading to Top Gun later in the week and will let you know.
