All Yamahas were prop rated from day 1...

:P I think the 67 hp comes from dyno work at OMC on the SST-45 motors using the SST-45 mid section and tuner at 7,000 rpm. This works on a tunnel, but not so sure on a heavier pad bottom "V".

hounddog is right about the 60 merc hp.I would say about the same as a 50 pro. my friend had a 50 pro on his voodoo and the same prop as mine. he was a little faster out of the hole but I was not too far behind. Could beat him on top end but not by very much.

TOTALLY AGREE!! The load difference on the tunnel is much less than on the V bottom. The compete SST 45 package was designed for the tunnel. I am not sure if there would be an advantage on the T boat.

Remember guys what you mostly feel is TORGUE not horsepower. If you run a 2 stroke snowmobile and then get on a NON turbo 4 stroke snowmobile there is a big difference in torgue. The 2 stroke has far more feel power at certain RPMs. The 4 stroke is a much milder smoother power band.

You have a good reason to fear the TOASTER……Here is a post from another site about the 50 hp Tohatsu. I do not now the fellow. Some of his facts are not correct, but the story is true.

There is a Class in APBA called "Sport C". It is stock outboards of 30 cubic inches or less, that is what the "C" denotes, 30ci. The fastest motor in that class is the old 2 cylinder, single carb, 29ci, Tohatsu/Nissan 40 hp . That is the class I started racing. I had a Sport C that would run 60 mph consistently, that's how I broke into the top 5 in the US in that class. Picked up a Tohatsu of Japan Sponsorship then moved up to Formula 50.
I was the Tohatsu Factory racer against Hydro-Tec=Yamaha, Mercury=Schubert’s, and OMC. Mercury and OMC dropped out fairly quickly, they were not competitive. It was STOCK 50hp motors 45 ci or less. Tohatsu dominated the Class. It was a probationary class for 2 years (1993 & 1994) then a legal class for 2 years, during probation I sandbagged because Wayne Worthy of Hydro-Tec was Class Chairman. Rules changed every Monday when they were beaten on Sunday. Points and wins were not counted, so I sandbagged. It was a legal Class for 2 years, 1995 & 1996. In those 2 years, 1995 and 1996, that red, white, and blue boat was never defeated. Won every race it was entered in, set every world speed record in the Formula 50 Class. They stuck me in a charity race with the next 2 classes up, SST45 and SST60, the SST stands for Factory Super Stock. I was the only stock motor on the course, I came in third out of 25 boats. They discovered just how fast my boat would run, they all quit.
