Here is a spec sheet for a T motor.
The BLUE PRINTING text is on the bottom of the page.

http://www.apba.org/sites/all/files/documents/60.pdf

The text also appears on the spec APBA sheets for the other motors in our class. Tohatsu, Yamaha etc.

Some clarification:

Power trim
... In 2012 you saw NO celled boats in UIM T and in 2012 they allow power trim on non celled boats. We were just a year head of dropping cells and we always had the power trim rule because it was on the FV boats that made up the class....

2012 UIM Rulebook, pages 296, Rule 553.01, Mono Hull rules section (T Classes) quote:
UIM rulebook wrote:

The use of powertrim is allowed for monohull boats provided with safety reinforced cockpit, per rule 509.

(509 is details on a safety cell and straping the driver in)
You don't have to follow the UIM rules... countries are allowed to adjust to suit their region. I'm just saying in 2012 no UIM T class permitted trim without a safety cell. Maybe you are reading RYA rules or something? I've not read them.

Thanks Andrew, that is interesting for sure. I did communicated with the T racers in England a while back.
They told me they were going to change the rule to allow non-celled boats to run power trim. They also indicated they were going to allow a 90 hp 69
cubic inch motor in theT850 class. It could race, but not get any points. I assumed their relationship with UIM was the same as ours with CBF.
They would have to do a formal UIM rule change same as we do with CBF. That was why I made the statement in the post.
The UIM race clubs obviously have more flexibility over there and more say in what they do. I think we should bring this fact up at the CBF Convention.
Interested people on this site say CBF is too constructed and complex. Maybe we can convince CBF to loosen things up a bit.
What do you think?

Like I've said 100's of times... if anyone doesn't like the rules, change them. There is no rule saying you have to follow UIM. If you want to hold a UIM sanctioned race you have to follow UIM to the letter. If it's just a CBF race, CBF for the most part does not care what you race or what you do. AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THE RULES YOU WRITE! You want "1000cc Yama-Merc-OMC-1972 this and 1995 this and 2008 this machine down to match this frankenmotors", who cares. "Just Do it!" Just make the rules say you can.

ThunderCat TC750 and X Class rules are basicaly this an it was approved no problem by CBF "If it visually looks stock outside the cowls, it's legal" We don't care whats under the cowl or what you did to it. If it's under 950cc, race it.

CBF will look twice at anything deemed by the BOD eyes as a safety rule, only natural.

Also if things change greatly, or something key changes, expect to be reviewed by the insurer and prices adjust accordingly. Big whoop. Of course that would happen.

Andrew, its the wording and number of the rules that I am a problem with. I would like to see a shorten simplified version. I am working on short version for the T guys which is becoming very difficult because of the current wordings being so complex to understand and I am in the insurance forms business. so I can understand what they are like for someone without my experience.

I agree GRR and some SO rules are a mess and a lot of it 40 years of date.

I submit 20-30 rule changes every year just cleaning things up. I can only do so much and to this point the only one with an interest in cleaning it up.

As said above though... it's the racers issue, not CBF. It is up to the racers to keep things the way they want and neat and current in the rule books. CBF just approves the changes the racers want. If racers do nothing, nothing will change.

Question and answer
Did OMC make pull start only motors?

Yes, commercial models and they even made the 3 cylinder as a pull start only. You would save some weight for sure.

T Class update.....Where we are at November 2012...looking to 2013 race season.
Just so there is no misunderstanding, hearsay or confusion caused by previous posts on this thread.

Safety Checks and the check list.
-Your boat will be pre-race inspected at every race. It will take less than 15 minutes provided you are prepared and have the boat rigged properly.
-The last check is on the launch ramp. That gives you time to get the correct safety gear.

Motor Tech Checks
- your motor must look legal, sound legal and smell legal. It must look and perform like the other similar motors in the class.
- you must give the inspector your completed Motor inspection sheet. You only do it once, unless you change motors. The reason is to place your boat is its best suited heat and to start a motor history record. We do not have any history yet on ETEC and 4 stroke motors.
- your motor compression will be checked in pre-race safety inspection

The T Booklet
- it will be available spring 2013. It will outline in simple language everything you need to know as to rules and just as important what is expected of you.
