Mine had no core either. It was as thick as the canoes we used to built

I've detached the deck from the hull. This one is built quite thick and heavy. There is also some core under the back corners of the deck.

It seems like the transom may have been previously done as it looks patched in. I am finding wet plywood in the transom and knees.

Anyone have any leftover Coosa board for sale? Full sheets are pricey.

Found the source of the transom juice: it was the transom. The whole transom was wet. 3 sheets thick for 2" total thickness. It was tough prying it apart but it all came out without much cutting, and no grinding so far.. Just a pry bar and a chisel. I weighted all the wet plywood, transom and knees: 60lbs.

I think at this point all the mystery has been revealed. Just a matter of plugging away now..

Looking for a source for 1/2" Coosa for the floor, and also 3/4" for the transom. if anyone has appropriate offcuts or smaller pieces available, let me know.

Making some good progress Matt. The structure rebuild is the satisfying part. Then the pressure is back on at the finish prep stage to make sure the paint job turns out good. Have you decided to use GP polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy resin for your build?

I'm planning on using epoxy. I don't have experience with anything else. I've only done one other major rebuild like this.

Tearing this thing apart has been an interesting learning experience. I can see how material used and techniques have created issues and also affected how it is coming apart. Amazingly, I got the floor out in one piece by hammering a flat pry bar between the original hull and the glass use to hold the floor in.
