Looking for some feedback...should I remove the whale tail?

I would say keep it. You will have holes to fill in otherwise LOL! Plus it should help you plane faster and will be out on the water at higher speeds.

Excellent stuff getting out!

Why would you have to fill the holes? I've ran with the holes and its the same turd as a regular stock cav plate.. No difference at all. But the reality is that anybody NOT running a planning aid of some variety is robbing themselves of MAJOR holeshot. PERIOD.

I find without a 'planing aid" I cant see over the bow in no wake zones, and it helps with watersports ie wakeboarding etc. Not that that is a concern for most of you guys but my rig is multi-purpose. I doubt I would ever NOT run one now.

Going under the guise that he was going to remove it as opposed to replacing it aesthetics only.

I ended up leaving it on, it runs well with it. Boat is all done and back in the water. New engine mounts, steering tube, yolk, trim relays, etc, etc...

Runs over 60 mph (speedo maxes out at 60) with a 23P aluminum three blade. Turns about 5600-5800 rpm.

I'd post a picture but I keep getting "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." Oh well, looks the same as before...on the outside.

Glad to hear!

You can post pics by linking to a picture hosting site. There are free ones that I am drawing a blank on right now...
