Ron had an interesting history with this ultra light Viper. He ran a big foot 65 hp OMC on it first and had good success with it.
He blew the Viper over with the Chrysler motor during this kilo run. He then ran a V4 OMC on the boat, blew it over and destroyed the boat.

The early comp hydrostreams did break.
The later versions like this comp V king were better

He ran 85mph with it, a 135 on the new one-piece powerflow lower with side bullet water pickups, jacked way up.

Later he ran one of the looper V6 Chrysler prototypes on the Fox lake area the next summer. I've been told no Merc could touch him all summer, eye witnessed by an OMC KR15 man that will to this day tell you they were fast. Was first shown at the dealer show 1977. The last horizontal fronts were screamers. Bankruptcy forced the halt.
