Wow !!
That was almost 30 years ago.
That's me doing the play-by-play with Mark Rotharmel.
I didn't even go to these races in Dunnville, Mark asked me to meet him months later to do voice-over with him and we did it as I was watching the video for the first time.

I also did the race announcing for the Sportscraft National Championships in Gravenhurst back in I think 1984 & 1985.

The white Critchfield in the video was the first one to race in Ontario. Being an APBA boat it was at a weight disadvantage compared for our CBF 700 lb outfits until the early 1990's. The Critchfields went on to dominate the FV/EP/T class and that boat was passed along to several racers who ALL won the class championship with the same outfit.. AND that boat was out of the molds for sale on another thread.

VooDoo's weakness on the race oval is cornering compared to the Critchfield. On the straights and as a lake runner it can be the fastest boat. Most Deltas and VooDoos have inconsistent cornering in T850 and are a real challenge for drivers. The Delta is a very good T750 boat.

One rule I liked about FV/EP up to 1991 was NO POWER TRIM. Having no power trim showed off boat set up and driving skill much more than after trim was allowed. It was all seat of the pants feel. Just look at the boats in the corners in the videos above. WILD! You had to change your set up between heats to beat the competition. I bet Steve changed his VooDoo set up to get more top end in order to catch Steve Huff's Delta which appears to be the quicker boat in the corners.

IMO, the main problems with the voodoos is the short pad and on the < 200 lbs race layup boats, the flimsy sides of both deck and hull. You could hold the steering wheel still, and turning motor by hand, to see the whole dash shift side to side. Big difference once we built up the pad and stiffened the sides near the front pulleys. Steve Huff was the one to beat, a great competitor.
