What et n mph would you see in a well setup boat in each class?

I am not sure that the top speeds matter nor do the ET. We don't run a clock and the speeds are always different depending on conditions. It is an elimination and acceleration contest.

I would think the pro drag guys run 95-100

Lake racer runs 80-90

Formula 70- 80


It has nothing to do with top speed it is all about acceleration

we only run 800ft. to keep the topend down and very safe! as technology with boat builds and hp progresses we can achieve faster speeds on the topend, we might be restricted to 700ft eventually! It's all about safety and having no injury claims with the insurer!

Cool. Was curious. I was looking for sortof a window. When setting up my boat tk know if i was in left field. Like if i put my motor on.. Ran 800 ft and the boat hit 67mph at 800, then id know i have work to do...

With that rocket if you had it set up for the lake you should be fine to through a small prop on and be competitive.

I'd imagine you'd be running well into the 90's with a 280 in 800'.
Get the boat together and we'll go do some testing this spring.
I'd like to get an idea what mine is doing on the course but can't justify an AIM dash. I figure a good GPS and a stopwatch is the next best thing.

just prop it so it's stays together, bragging rights isn't going to replace your powerhead!

If its a stock unported 280 and if you have a modified box the 280 has its best power in and around 8800-9200 rpm. A 22" Yamaha drag is a perfect start. But in drag racing speed doesn't mean shit , it's how fast you get there. Test with time and not speed.
