so i want to try drag racing... so teach me what i need to know ! what speed should i reach in the 800 feet to be competitive? has anyone timed planing ? what works better hull mount drag plate or motor mount? P@ what props have you tried? Ken what props have you tried ? Yammer any advise on setup? any help to get the Venom ready for the drags would be great! |

Cav plate and jackplate plate will help Prop style will be what ever works for your boat's weight and power level ( ET most likely for your rpm but need to know what it can limit out at but still have actual power and not over rev/run ) A competitive Lake Racer planing speed is sub 2 seconds from the hit to full on water plane / pad. But that's with 180psi Comp. Fast trim is KEY. If you can add voltage for drag running. Test test test and more TESTing with documented set up changes and one at a time. |

Lawn tractor battery, a relay and a horn button on the steering wheel....you're good to go. And ya.....lots of testing!! |

The first thing too doo is…. Show Up ! then race  party race  Being prepared is also important i guess … I just showed up with a lake set up and borrowed a prop at the track   No testing gets you on the trailer after 2 or 3 passes … But then you will know what you need to do… if you still want to do it.More than likely you will be back... and getting quicker every time … I owe NB for a 14.5 x 26 Yamaha drag copy that I used in Dunnville that I am going to get worked for my boat. If the budget allows I will get one made . Paul @ Top Gun and every one in the Drag boat scene will help out and lend anyone what ever they need to get on the water… Thank you Boy's

The biggest key, James, is to show up! All the drag guys are great and will help you get better every race. The class needs more guys that just want to race and not worry about winning. As soon as I can, I'll be in these races, competetive or not!! If they'd let me race the Chris Craft, I would!!!

If they'd let me race the Chris Craft, I would!!! my boat launched surprising level with the new motor on it..... made me want to try drag racing.. luckily ken is only an hour and a bit from my cottage so we will have lots of test days with small props.. should be fun ! i need to start looking for smaller props. |

Testing Then I lose the rest of my excuses Get a 24" or 26 Yami Drag copy or ET and one of the new Mitchie drag plates and your off too the races... You are now the competition James Cole, that boat is going to be a threat in lake racers FUCK !
