I'm planning to have my 02 set up for Formula class this year running a 2.4 / 200.
Is it legal for me to cut my heads to get upto 145 psi compression or is that considered an "internal" mod?

can you use different factory heads? or do they have to be original part numbers?, i have a few sets of v6 merc heads, different cc's , i think a set of 2.0l heads 32-34 cc would run really well on a 2.4l. :D

Bolt on heads are fine. Cut heads are fine. ZERO INTERNAL ENGINE MODS ALLOWED. NOT A SINGLE GRIND MARK. THAT INCLUDES CROSS DRILLED INTAKES.
Formula is meant to bring the average Joe HP lake boat cottage type guy/girl out to have some fun.

I see that Formula states no purpose built race boats. Could an exception be made for a old race boat that has been converted to a pleasure boat with a full interior powered by an original never taken apart 1986 Yamaha?

i think yamaha would shine in this class, i want to see what the valero excel would do, it is all stock fishin' motor and seats 4. ;)

Perfect for the class and exactly what the class was intended to showcase

Rob

I don't see a problem with you running your set up. The rule is to prevent super light stripped down boats that do nothing but race into the class. At the end of the Day we do our best to have fair competition and will will slot the boats where we think they fit!

Ken , your boat is working better than ever it seems. Sure wish I didn't have such a bad drag car schedule that weekend. Once you find the right prop you'll be a lot closer. Its great to notice the progression of all the boats over time :)
