Interesting old thread from 2006 about VooDoos. In 2006 I was developing TClass in the Canadian Boating Federation and we were racing in SST 60 in Apr Super Leaque.. I was very interested in seeing how competitive you could make a production model Voodoo in to. The idea being the boat would be duel purpose....it could be a recreation boat most of the type...and come out to race 3 or 4 times a season. I thought it would increase interest in this new TClass and increase the number of entries in the class.
Tyler who posted on this thread talks about his VooDoo and how it ran. Paul Hickey was also very interested.
Paul and I weren’t 100% sure we could get Tyler’s Voodoo to run 66 mph. We worried that if it did Tyler may not be able to drive it because it was a stock Voodoo with stock steering and nothing done to the boat. It was the same as similar production Voodoos and they ran mid 50’s with long shaft 70 hp motors.
The big “shock” was the boat ran 70 mph and handed great.

So here is what that motor was:
It was an illegal SST 60 powerhead...it failed Jeff Titus inspection at an Apr Super League race because the block was decked (shaved) so it was below the legal limit.
The midsection was an early 49 OMC long shaft. That midsection has the same lower mounts as the 15 inch model so I installed solid mounts. The base plate and tuner were off a 56 OMC. I shorten the tuner to SST 60 length. The gearcase was a nitro with the drive shaft and shift rod lengthened.
The power trim was factory OMC.

Now you know the story here is the thread
