There has been a rule change in the 2012 Thundercat rules... official book has been sent to CBF head office and will be officially released very soon. There is only one minor change, it involves rule 12.08.

NEW RULE:
12.08
Race Number: Must be on both sides of the hull, at the bow, 24 cm tall x 4 cm stroke and/or on the engine cover 18 cm tall x 3 cm stroke minimum. The colour must be high contrasting with the background (hull) colour.

PREVIOUS RULE:
12.08
Race Number: Must be at the bow of the boat 24cm tall x 4cm stroke with a 2 cm border minimum around the number and/or on the engine cover 18cm tall x 3cm stroke with a 2cm border minimum around the number. The colour must be black letters on a white background.

REASON:
To make it a little more clear on the location of the hull numbers and to make it easier for new people to temporarily ready their boat to give racing a try. Instead of having to get black on white numbers likely painted on... with the contrasting number method, simple and inexpensive vinyl decals can be used that will last a weekend and then the boat can easily be put back into "family" mode if they chose.

This would also be a good idea for T BOATS. Some of the T Boat numbers are difficult to read and this also allows you to just have the numbers on when you race, so you do not attract as much attention when you are using the boat as your cottage boat.

Stock Outboard already has a high contrasting number rule. Black on White is "Highly Recommended" for Stock Outboard.

Sorry, I missed the part you highlighted... engine covers.

Stock Outboard currently does not permit numbers on the engine cowls. T-Boats are currently Stock Outboard. You are welcome to make any proposal you like for the convention.

To add to this... I will make free boat number decals with my sign machine in either black or white colours to anyone new who comes to Dunnville to race. Just have to let me know at least a week a head of time so I can have the time to make them.
