I have been asked several times why the 2 cylinder OMC is the best suited motor for T-750. Reasons: - availability - initial cost - used condition - engine design - re-build cost - performance - support - props - durability availability There are more motors of this model for sale on the market. Rare are 50 hp Yamaha or Tohatsu/Nissan short shafts. initial cost Most running OMC motors are under $800. Running Yamahas are over $1200. used condition Most times the powerhead is fairly good. May need rings. Lower unit is normally good. engine design Good design, steel crank SST 45 Spec sheet available re-build cost Less cost because it is 2 cylinder compared to 3 cylinder Yamahas etc. Easy to match SST 45 spec sheet. Crank is normally good performance A stock used running OMC will push a T-750 boat 50 to 56 mph. A RACE PREP OMC motor will increase the speed 3 to 5 mph. support There is more knowledge within the class about this motor than the other motors. There are more parts and props available. There is dealer support...Top Gun is always there to help T racers. props Lots available and the motor uses the same props as the T-850 OMCs You can buy new props. Thom and Todd are prop guys and can sell you a new prop or dial in your current prop to suit your boat. durability A race prep motor is better than a new stock motor. The OMC motors are running 7000 plus and they are not breaking. |

You need that prop! that one is almost as bent as the race prop you like so much on the critchfield... you need those custom speed tweaks you know! |
