I will take them if they're not already sold. Can pick them up later this week.
Let me know.

Not yet. I plan to FIRST restore the pan, skirt and mid to look as nice as the hood.
Those parts are common whether the motor remains as a 49 or becomes a 56'r.
I'll check the clamp bracket assemble for wear and its overall condition.
I'll remove the head and intake and pull the pistons without disassembling the powerhead.
That will enable me to see inside. I can lube the crank and turn the motor over to check the ignition.
Then I will know what I have to work with.

NOW, putting this bright orange motor fully restored on this boat! That would be very cool!

Picked up the parts to-day as planned. Thanks Paul.

I got an e-mail from a fellow in Toronto who has a mint original 1976 original short block assembly.
He will sell it for $500.00 which is less cost compared to buying 3 oversize pistons and boring 3 cylinders.
Plus spending several hours reassembling the old powerhead.
Just switch the original carbs, ignition and other stuff over onto the newer one and now it's a nice original powerhead with lots of life.
The motor then becomes a collector piece rather than a refreshed 30 over old race motor.
OR is it better to build a 30 over Jake Elsey 49 race motor.
One step at a time....no rush.
