Well I got this little baby from Boomer in a horse trade...should be cool for burnin' around the woods and eventually a sled for the kids.

I was having some running issues so I pulled it down and cleaned everything up. Found a bad crank bearing (obsolete...found one on the shelf...) and some not so good crank seals but the rest looked good.

I'm also updating the handlebars and seat. I got the bars on tonight but the seat will be a bit more work. It's also getting an Apex rear bumper and flap...because I got it all in stock lol.

That's the sled my kids learned on. Courtney was about 7 when she started on it. A little overconfident and tried to take on a tree!!
The tree won!!
Cool project Doc.

The boy will be 3 in March so he's a bit young yet...that and every time he sits on it he holds the throttle WFO so it think he may be destined to have his own battles with the forest lol. I'm not going to go nuts with the bodywork for that reason.

It's a fun project either way...and I can pick it up which I like.

If my memory is right. That model came as both a single 250? and a twin 300. A relative owned a dealership and their kids always had those snowmobiles. Light and easy to move on the trails. They later put mod 433 SS engine with the factory expansion pipes in one of them. They later tried a free air 433 GPX motor but it blew up. Dad will enjoy it as well!

Not yet lol.....

Don you're right they came with the 250 or 300 in the short chassis and 340 in the "big" chassis. Though there isn't much difference in size between any of them including the 440 SRX which is ludicrous lol

Their 433 ss motor worked the best. They had a small tach that ran off the oil pump. The tach was mounted in the middle of the steering bars. The exhaust came out the side a 2 separated pipes. The only problem they had was stopping. The back always wanted to spin out especially road running. After they blew up the free air motor they did a mod 440 A. Cat Puma. They changed the gearing lower and filled the track metal bars with the small feet. On the trails and hill climbing it was fun to watch. A 0 to 60 machine in 40 yards.
