Interesting. I like the open hull type. I like the open propeller. I like the weight limit. I like the hp. I don’t like the power trim restriction. Someone can have it, but another person with the same engine with a different ID plate, can’t? I will have to start working on a new design. 12’ long. V bottom. 85lbs bare hull. |

I got these rules from other UIM race governed countries racing a similar class. Depending on the country the rules vary a bit because of the motors available and the cost of the motors in that location. The basic idea is the same. Attract new racers to the sport with an entry level cost effective class. The OPEN hull rule allows for a WIDE variety of boats. The motors are all FACTORY STOCK. The older motors are less costly and most never had factory trim. The new models can come with factory trim. EVERY MOTOR raced has to be one that is available to every racer. It's about FUN! |

Here is a Catch 10 with a 30 hp E-TEC and a Catch 12 https://scontent.fybz2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/ ... gifQ%3D%3D Let's not forget about the inflatable boats! http://saturninflatableboats.ca/images/ ... ole-05.jpg https://www.google.ca/search?q=saturn+h ... =662&dpr=1 OR the small open V hulls with OMC and Tohatsu/Nissan 30 hp twins http://i29.tinypic.com/24awgb6.jpg OR the closed deck GT30 hulls http://www.rya.org.uk/SiteCollectionIma ... ropped.jpg THE SMALL 9 AND 10 FOOT 2 PASSENGER TOY BOATS....VERY LOW COST...AND LOTS OF THEM!! https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motor ... nFlag=true https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motor ... nFlag=true MODIFYING AND OLD NON COMPETITIVE 10 TO 11 FOOT HYDROPLANE INTO A TUNNEL Andrew would know if this is doable. Rather than build a new boat, I am told it is possible to rework the bottom on a hydroplane and extend the sponsors to the transom to make the boat a tunnel hull. A lot less costly than a new boat and you are saving and recycling a race boat. https://boatracing.files.wordpress.com/ ... .jpg?w=790 https://boatracing.files.wordpress.com/ ... .jpg?w=790 A PERSONAL WATERCRAFT....OUTBOARD http://watercraftjournal.com/wp-content ... 00x450.jpg |

I found this site interesting because it shows a number of Clubman boats for sale. http://www.nzpba.com/classifiedsinsouts.htm THEIR Engine rule is: Engines: - 25 hp Stock Outboard or 30 hp 2 cylinder Stock Outboard One of the boats for sale is a 25 hp 3 cylinder Suzuki. SO under their engine rule ONLY 30 hp motors need be 2 cylinder. If you run a 25 hp, it can be 3 cylinders. http://www.nzpba.com/Redge1.jpg |

Even though racers can race ANY hull style and any motor, most run race V hulls with the older 2 stroke motors. The Clubman class has been racing in these countries for years. Many of these countries also race many other V hull and tunnel classes so there are many choices. A V hull offers the most challenge, is the most fun and is very competitive. In Ontario we currently do not have the same selection of classes. When we tried SLT, GT30 and a small tunnel classes we cannot draw enough interest to get enough boats to fill the individual class. Canadian Clubman ALLOWS ALL of the above mentioned classes in the same class. Hopefully we can draw a few boats of each type to fill the class. IF? one type of boat gets boat count then we can look a making it it's own class. I hope we see SOME people in this class not to win the class, but to showcase their boat in hope it can develop into it's own class. Jamie's Aussie Tin Boat is an example. CC Class will also give people the opportunity to build something different. I like small tunnels. What would I try in CC class? First I would get an old 11 or 12 foot tunnel like these: http://www.nzpba.com/f3tunnelsale.jpg Then I would modify the deck to look this this.....A Hydro-tunnel.....no seat...kneel down boat https://boatracing.files.wordpress.com/ ... .jpg?w=790 For power I would run a 30 hp Tohatsu or 25 hp 3 cylinder Yamaha.....pull start manual. AND THERE IS ANOTHER GREAT FEATURE THIS DESIGN HAS!.....THE BOAT IS NOW A COTTAGE BOAT AND TWO PEOPLE CAN RIDE IN IT...GO PLAY WITH THE VOODOOS ON THE LAKE....RUN A 49 STINGER AND THEY CAN'T CATCH YOU. These small kneel down tunnels first appeared in the late 1960's. Here is an example of one. In the foreground is a Mercury powered one. http://www.boatracingfacts.com/forums/a ... 1524964281 WHAT WOULD YOU RUN? |

Here is an example of an S750 boat. The ad says it is an SST45. The motor is not the SST45 engine but rather the production T750 motor. Great combo! Not as fast as a true SST45, but still fast enough. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motor ... nFlag=true |
