Don, you posted about pistons the new omc being chinese, so whats the preferred piston NOS off the net, i know on other motors some guys dont like wiseco

The previous ones were made in Mexico. Any of those are better. Check the Sea Way site under SST 60. They show the original part number. Wisecos are good, you just allow a little more clearance. The new after market stock pistons with the coatings are very good. In SST 60 you must use the OMC part. That is the only reason I searched for the OMC original pistons. In T you do not need to use the OMC part. Lots of options.
OH, you just got me thinking. Sierre pistons are not preferred. However, their replacement OMC 49 piston used to work better than the OMC, something to do with much large holes in the pistons the improved the transfer . Maybe an old OMC vet and expand on this.

Another question and answer
There is a post and video on Ron Hill site about VP75. Is it the same as T?

Their doing a good job in growing that class. The boats are similar and their boats could come up and run with us. We couldn't run any of our Short Shaft T boats down there because of their must be a long shaft rule.

DS could run!! ;) ...Those boats have a 5" below rule running a large case!! That seems to make for a pretty ill handling raceboat! :? A well setup T750 rig would likely outrun them all? The advantage of VP75 is that it's pretty easy to come by a long shaft 49.

thanks this is for my 60 2 cylinder, was going to just get them from omc but may differ after reading your posts

I just got an e-mail stating that Wiseco pistons now come coated. Run that T750 motor!
We need more T750's.
AND don't worry about a prop. Come to the 2013 Spring T Party and we will have lots of props to test. Not only that but Stef, Dave, LC junior will be there with T750 boats to test with.

When you talked about motors, you didnt mention mercs at all. I've recently been thinking about selling a sidewinder I have to fund a t850 delta. I'm a merc guy, so I'd plan on using a 70 or 75hp merc, the older 49.9? ci motors. Like the style of a 650xs. What can you tell me about those mercs for racing?
and is there a candidate for a t750 merc?

Sure, we can talk about the Mercury's. We have raced 650XS motors. In T850 the 650XS can do very well. Top Gun ran one 2 years ago and he was one of the best in the class. I am sure Top Gun will help you if you decided to run a 650XS or any motor for that matter.. The 59 cubic inch 60 hp Mercury is currently in the T850 field. It is a competitive motor.. Chris raced his at Dunnville this year. Not sure if he is staying Mercury in 2013 and if he changes then the motor is likely available. The early 1992 to 1997 Mercury is 52 cubic inch. Empire Racing has sold theirs and it is now on a VooDoo. We hope to see the Mercury VooDoo run next year. The 49 regular fishing motor is a bit slow for T850. There are several in Ontario on Deltas and I have been trying to get them out to race. They run approximately 55 mph. That puts them speed wise in the middle of the T750 group. Now under our Fair Competition Rule in T Class. Those boats can race with our T750's. So go ahead and get your Mercury. We will find a place for you depending on the motor your running.

I was basically wondering how the fishing motor would compare. I know the 650xs uses the twister carbs, and is far more competitive then the regular one. I have a feeling if I do start racing (hopefully 2 or 3 years), I'll be running omc, I'll just have to put a 44xs cowl over it!
