We can talk about which is the best oil for your motor until the end of the world. I have been using Shell Nautilus 2 stroke outboard preminum oil when the came out had no issues on merc, yamaha or Johnson.

You may not know this that at Canadian Tire The Shell cost $37.95 for 5 Litres Did you know that The Canadian MotoMaster Outboard oil is the same oil content as the Shell at $28.95 for 5 litres

If you doubt me take a look on the Production code on the Shell ..They are identical to the Motomaster and yes its Blue

Be careful running CTC or Nautilus in a DFI outboard....particularly an Opti. Those oils are not designed to operate at the temperatures that an opti runs and they burn off the internals...leaving sticky crap behind and eventually chunks of aluminum. I buy Yamalube by the case and I paid RETAIL last time and it was like $42 for 4L taxes in.....not worth the risk IMO...

REALLY, we bitch about 5-10 more bucks for OIL (good that is) but spend thousands to rebuild when good OIL can reduce that costly fact. How much a season for good oil as to cheap? Will the difference buy a USED block? Mine cost 7g and that wasn't caused by oil issues! Ask Bmax what that block looks like, he's got it.

I don't use motomaster brand of parts, oil, additive,or electrical in anything I value! The only outboard oil related failure I've encountered was running motomaster oil, maybe a coincidence but I always try to learn from the past! [I woudn't feel comfortable running the shell in "my" outboards] I do run it in my sleds [they are cheap to rebuild] and I don't use them much!
I have heard the guys u.s. side are having success with the pennsoil syn. in there outboards purchased at walmart at an excellent price, seems it's not available here! I did some research and found a supplier here for $3.08ltr.! I haven't run it yet! I will be testing this oil in the spring , if it works I'll make sure there's a good supply available to all who want some! I had to ask twice when the price was quoted, that's for 1 liter bottles sold by the case!

HCD, maybe it's just me, when I read marketing/sales propaganda(same w all Brands) bt 2 types above, I'm challenged to distill down to specific differences, applications. Both are semi-synthetic, High performance, exceed OEM spec, blah, blah,...cheaper one has longer benefit bullet points. I can only discern expensive stuff is TC-W3 rated. Naturally, all Brands claim they're the best, ashless, smokefree, longer life, less wear, cheeks don't chafe/rash wearing chaps,...
Being Lucas product rep, differentiate briefly where each of 2 is best suited, eg: racing(ie: OMC/Y302) vs recreational(ie: 9.9-150+).
Help me understand which suits my different applications. Describe TC-W3 diff, aside from being industry rating, how does TC-W3 work differently in my engines. I don't want to be the expert, no fear of that here. Not knocking Lucas at all, help me buy YOUR product, vs Amsoil, Shell,...Judging from above thread most here are prepared to pay premium to avoid Bang/Boom.
Thx

I run the pennzoil blend and haven't had any issues. The only place I have seen it in Canada is at the bass pro shop and that is only during the big sale they have in March, other then that they don't carry it in Canada.
