I've always wanted a tandem trailer so took a step away from the fiberglass and epoxy and decided to build myself a new trailer. I designed it all in my spare time doing some 3-D modelling to get all my angles and dimensions exactly correct and then went to work. First couple pictures show when I was getting the frame all welded up and then the last few were from today when I got the boat put on the trailer. A couple of the highlights are a fully decked over front walkway to make life easy at the launch ramp, electric brakes, and anodized aluminum fenders. I'm really happy how it all turned out and really happy to finally have a tandem trailer.

Pics for you pleasure and cure for winter blues....

Wait until you see the new 4 stroke powerhead with the flux capacitor and jet thrust powered lower unit get installed. Man when this thing hits 88 mph on the drag course..... look out

Always top notch work. Triangular front deck is a practical launching feature, however carpet will retain moisture and road dust(eg: sand) that will seldom dry out between summer weekend launchings/rain/driving in rain, first area prone to rot....well maybe over 10 years....Oh yeah, with your itchy fingers you never keep anything over 2. Non issue. ;)

Haha well you sir are correct that the carpet is likely to retain road debris and moisture. With that in mind, and after a long deliberation with chief executives and senior engineers, it was decided that it was the way to go. The wood was hand selected from the best of pressure treated trees, and the carpet is hand woven from only the finest of indoor/outdoor carpet fibers. Actually as a fun fact - indoor/outdoor carpets are produced from Olefin fibers which are naturally moisture wicking and stain resistant which makes it perfect for use on trailer bunks, and in this case the front deck. My worry with doing it all out of diamond plate is although it won't rot, or retain road debris, it is very slippery when wet and I can picture it now I'd be rolling ass over tea kettle into the water before the people standing close by can start to laugh. I appreciate the comment on the top notch work, hopefully can have a sunny summer to be able to put lots of miles on it.
