There's a pad like you say yours has but no defined, hard edge like a pad on an Allison would have, so I would guess its the stock bottom. Same as the later Vmate hulls and larger Vmate 2 hulls.

For any consolation, the pad on this boat is about 5.5 inches wide (haven't officially measured) and is flat (at least it will be when I'm finished with it).

Yes, a proper pad boat.
There's no doubt yours is the superior performer at any level, has pedigree and worth the effort to restore.
My Check is a mutt by comparison but it is 90% complete, on a good trailer and was cheap.
Might re-do the stringers, transom and loose the splash well at some point but it'll still be a mutt.

I wouldn't necessarily say mutt, 97 in the 1/4 is pretty much non-mutt worthy.

Contact Allison with the HIN (or get it to me, I'll talk to Bill when I'm in Jasper), if it had / has a lip leave it and try it the way it was built.
You might like it.

Now you are just being mean to me and my sunglasses - they are a purpose built precision device. Fully functional! 8-)
