SRV vs Charger DL for water skiing

My brothers never ending quest to replace his 89 DL continues. Or maybe it’s just me trying to get him into a new ride.

At any rate, how does the SRV compare to the DL for water skiing? Wake height? Tracking?

I've had both but I don't ski so I'm not sure how the wake is. What I will say is the SRV would be a pain in the ass to try and move around in to deal with ropes etc. The rear cowl is in the way of a ski tow and you'd have tough time hiding a ski in the boat lol. Get a Vegas or buy that used SV.

The J Craft is kept at my cottage on Cooch. My SS2000 is a couple of cottages down the road at my Mom's. My brother's DL is on 6 Mile Lake. It's 31 years old and needs love or a do over. My brother and his wife alternate weekends between Cooch and 6 Mile.

Option 1, another 19 J for 6 mile - it's hard to find a recent used J, and the 19 is no longer being built. The mold is at Gordon Bay but they only build 21s.
Option 2, buy a 21 J. Big money
Option 3, Does the guy building Chargers make the old 20' V bottom with the same bottom as the SRV? That's why I asked about the wake. The SRV cockpit is too small for family use.

My brother's wife only likes J Craft and Chargers. If it were me I'd get John to build a 20 Vegas or buy a Grandsport.

After my third summer with my SK Charger. I decided to keep it. Yeah the 200 GT is hard on gas but for the price of a newer motor, I can buy a lot of gas.
Having said this. I love the ride of my Charger. It can take rough water like a champ.

Oh and I made a 16" mid with my motor and not sure if it's the shorter exhaust stack but it has a lot more punch at the bottom end.

He has the deck and hull mould, but someone drove a forklift through one of them, and he doesn't have a source for a windshield. I told him with the new power packages available he should be concentrating more on the 20' than the less than stellar STV's, but he doesn't seem interested at this point. "Maybe next year" was the response I got.

The SV needs a Laser 380 Ray style deck that would be beaut
