I think it needs to be a two part question. once you get your setup where you want it, prop, porp height, setback etc. maybe add some compression, you need to decide what you are willing to give up for the extra mph. more rpm, smaller, lighter flywheel, smaller alternator, so no more long idle times, re ring every 100 to 150 hrs, no oil injection, remove the floor from the boat, and everything else that is'nt bolted down, run a huge prop so one passenger max with you both leaning over the bow to get on plane. I think it depends on what you plan to use it for, as you can't have everything in one boat. having a ton of money sure helps though LOL! btw the no oil injection dous'nt apply to Yamaha LOL! the pot is stirred now!

Henry must have a sore neck from watching you go by that fast

Yep...got all dizzy and fell down.

It was suprisingly easy to add 11mph to my top speed actually....gotta love the internet. I think I feel 107 coming on...yep...just ran a 107.2 :).

I figured you were doing at least 50 when you got out on to the lake from the launch so you could string it out.

Especially since I've got all these numbers on the keyboard here...I don't even need to get my boat out of storage to beat you lol.

Around 1994ish Hot Knots had a "try a propeller program". I borrowed a 26 Hoss Hyperdrive and picked up 6 mph. Of course I had to buy it and of course it was stupid expensive. $900, the most I've ever spent on a prop.

Having said that, if there was a $900 prop that was 5 mph faster than my small ear chopper, I'd buy it. That would be 4.6 mph faster than my 31 Triton. I'm talking my gps, however inaccurate you want to believe it is, it is consistent.

I think I'd be more interested in spending money on acceleration.

The yamaha oil injection is the best in the business...the only caution is that the excels are getting old...so...the oil lines are getting brittle and the check valves are getting sticky...and...the pump is getting old. It might be a good idea to check out the oiling system and make sure there's nothing glaring.
