I know from past experience that many times you check your boat and you miss something that is wrong when it is vary obvious. You just do not see the problem. I have walked passed other peoples boats and noticed minor to serious problems they have missed. A check list helps. A check list with a second person is better. Have a buddy double check your boat. Do not assume it is good to go just because it was fine the last time you ran it.
