Finished of my little boat and took it out for a ride today . Ran nice and straight could only get 42 mph with my 70hp Force so looks like a merc 115 will be next.

Nice Job. Depending on how you're set up, there may be some more MPH with that motor with engine height and prop. Interesting bottom. Kind of looks like its made to work as a 3 point hydro.

The key to that boat as it is intended to run like a 3 point hydro. I'd to beep the power light .

So a 90 or 115 3 cycle like an Optimax or a etec would kick but. I'd not put a 115 v4 or I6 because they will be just to heavy and the boat will not go ant faster and have very poor handling.

My dad had a Humber Jewel back in the day wit ph a Marc 78 on it and when you slowed down you could sink the boat. I can't imagine this one being much different with enough weight on the back.

Just my 2cents

It turned out great! I think 42 is not bad for that setup. Although, I always vote for more power!

I agree with MOTOboat, make it run like a hydro.
A little stern lift with a cleaver style prop would be a worthwhile test before investing in a new motor.
Might gain a few MPH and she'll certainly handle differently.
She's unique from a time gone by. Don't try to make her into something she's not, just enjoy what she is. I think she's pretty cool as is.

Bet is from Quebec; there were a couple of companies that copied Humber boats (who copied who depends on who is talking) then made changes when it became an issue, hey it was the 50's and 60's, so it's been around! How long is it ? If 13 to 13/6 probably a modded jewel copy.
