I can't find the thread where houndog had the trick to put a 56 on a 49 short shaft. What parts / mods do you need?

just find a 20" 60-70 mid, 1986 and up, 56ci, cut tuner to 6 inch, minor grinding, all you need

You will need to drill out the short mid bolt holes a little larger to accept the bolts for the 56 power head.as they are a larger diameter then the ones for the 49.

yeah, do this once the adapter is bolted on, to the mid, just drill out mid holes same size as adapter.

what adaptor do you use?

60-70 56ci adapter, 1986-2000 70, 89-00 60 hp will work
