I hit 66mph a couple of times (at the end of approx 450 meter straights) at Haliburton this past weekend. I think the motor is about 1/2in too low. 22p prop at like 6350rpm. Motor 99% stock - still has full airbox and no exhaust relief drilled in the lower..

Anyhow, seems like close to 70mph would maybe be possible with a 23p and more run distance after the motor is raised a bit, maybe some setup adjustments..

I'm pretty sure there is a young SML'r who has hit 70mph with a 49'r this year...

I hit a personal best today.

Can I claim that GPS 111kmh is 69mph? there are a couple of 112kmh segments in the tracks log.. 22p, 6600rpm.

Admittedly cool day, with the wind, ideal chop..

Anyhow, I'm liking this motor more and more. Also, pulls pretty hard with the 21p.

Anyone have a 23p I can try?

Matt, I was looking at the list of the fastest 49 cubic inch OMC TBoats. Your GPS at 69 mph puts you near the top. Jake Elsey ran the same mph with similar Marty Brodeur built Critchfield and running a 22 pitch prop. Josh on Six Mile was also running a 49 omc/critchfield and he too was running 69-70 mph.
Back in the 1990’s the dominant EP racing 49 omc was the same original Danny built critchfield that moved from owner to owner and each owner did win a championship. That boat was running over 70 mph on radar at Dunnville. Steve Wrong’s Marty built critchfield was also a plus 70 mph boat. Maybe the “quickest” one. Steve won with it in EP and that same boat was later run by Ryley D at Waterford T850 testing and ran 70.2 mph on GPS. Ryley was running a 23 pitch prop.
