I have seen a few OMC 3 cyl motors for sale lately on kijiji that need to be rebuilt. Around how much $$$ would it cost to rebuild assuming the cylinders needed to be bored? I would disassemble and reassemble myself but send the block out for any work. Where abouts are you guys buying your rebuild kits from?
Thanks for any info.

Ive used a few WSM rebuild kits in the past, seem to work well in everything ive put them in. Roughly $300 to bore all 3 cylinders plus tax, and around $600 for the rebuild kit from what i saw online. So somewhere between $800 and $1000 if you want it all to be fresh

Many of the T racers have been very lucky is buying used OMC 56 motors that did not require a major rebuild. I know of several power heads that only required rings. Most of the time provided the water pump has not failed and the motor over heat, the reason the motor runs poorly is dirt in the carbs.

At first I was thinking it would be good to just add trim to the Voodoo's 2 cyl OMC but figure if we are going to that much trouble might as well go with a motor a little bigger and keep the 2 cyl as a spare (nothing worse that having motor troubles in the middle of the summer and losing a few weeks!). Hopefully in the off season we can find a motor for a good price either running or in need of a rebuild. A motor needing some work is ok as it would be a good project for me to work on with my son .
