T750
The OMC SST 45 based motor is the most common and as such those racers have improved their performance over the last two years. The improvement is the result of lighter boats, better props, better set ups and more driving experience.
Low budget non blue printed stock T750 two stroke motors be they OMC, Tohatsu, Yamaha or any of the other brands are similar in performance low 50 to mid 50's mph depending on set up.
The Mercury 4 stroke is a high 50's mph motor and will run competitive with the top boats in the class.
The top running boats are running over 60 mph on the race course.

T850
The class is dominated by the 56 OMC production[sand cast bridge port blocks] Detuned SST60 powerheads [changing the head from 180 to 160 compression] are not as competitive as in previous years. The fishing OMC block can be T850 tuned to be a better suited T850 race boat with great acceleration and top speeds over 73 mph on the race course.
The T850 legal OMC 56 oval ports should appear in the 2017 season. They were getting DQ in 2016 because of non legal carburetors.
I expect that motor will be very competitive.

OVERVIEW
T Class is a very competitive class. There is little chance that you will be a winner your first year even if you purchased the NUMBER ONE boat. It takes experience in races to get top 3 finishes. You don't need to finish top 3 to enjoy racing. T class is all about having competitive FUN. The rules allow your boat to race in the class where it is most competitive. Years ago T class had a lucky draw where the winner of the draw won $100.00 cash [that paid for your weekends racing].. There a many HOBBY types on this site with T style outfits that sit on the fence about trying racing. Just because your outfit is slower and not have all the key performance parts does not mean you cannot race it. We just need a few boats that run similar in the same race for you to have fun.
Six Mile has just had another growth in T Boats. It would be GREAT to see you guys try racing.

I got an e-mail from a fellow with a VooDoo 70 hp OMC. He was asking what class he would be placed in. The T750 class is possible, but likely he would run in T850. In the past Thom raced his T750 boat in both T750 and T850 . Racers love to race and if we see more of these slower T850 boats race, other T750 boats will run both classes and provide the competition for the slower T850 boats.

I did get one feedback from a fellow that is currently running a 2 cylinder high ratio nitro case on a short shaft 1979 hustler. The boat is a production model non race set up MX13 Checkmate. He originally ran a 20 pitch. With the 2 cylinder case he runs a 24 pitch. Overall performance is better with the 2 cylinder case especially with more than one person in the boat.
