yes I understand my hull is not a racer, and the original sst60 was built for tunnels.
SST60 is also used a lot on v bottom race hulls and gives great amount of speed.

anything to give a bit more top is what I am after.
I dont need 7000 rpm, .. 6500to 6750 would be enough as long as its strong around that sort of rev.

this is why I was thinking maybe get a better tuner to let it breath a bit better along with a few other mods.

I will know a bit more when I look at my spare block to see just how good or bad the port finish is from
standard on the oval ports.
I did hear of one that was said to have the top angled a bit and that gave a huge impact on the top end.

I will take plenty of pics of all the ports and post them here to show what they are like.
also wondering if anything is to be done on the adaptor, maybe clean that up a touch if its got casting marks.

or is this yet another place to do a lot of work for a gain ? i.e open it up or round of the corners etc ?

I looked at my spare oval port block today and took some measurments.
the oval port exhaust top edge is 1.520 from the top of the block.
the oval is not a sharp finish on the edges and not a chamfer, but the other ports are terribly sharp with rough edges.
on the exhaust port there is room up top behind the liner to cut around 70 thou before touching any alloy.
70 off would be even higher up than a sst60.

the inlet ports are a total disgrace how bad they are when running a finger along them, almost like a serated knife ,they realy are crap.
to make them nice would need to take off about 10 thou to level it up.
so these oval ports could be moved up a fair bit.
