Hey everyone, just wondering if you guy think putting a low water pickup on my charger dl with 225ficht will make a big difference in performance, and how easy is installation? Thanks! |

depends, what propshaft height are you running, prop? setback? how fast do you want to go? The cone on the lower will only help if you jack the motor up high, with a 6" setback jackplate you would need the propshaft centreline up to3/4" to 1/2" under the pad with a 28p to 30 p chopper to get around 80 mph depending how healthy your motor is. dual cable steering a water pressure guage are must haves. solid motor mounts are suggested too. This is a decent starting point , the charger experts will chime in soon I bet. Steve |

Currently running on a 23p prop with a 6" jack plate, but i start chime walking at about 78mph according to my gps. Just got a dual cable steering system but my water pressure gauge just blew :/ |

somethings wrong here, with a 23p prop and omc 1.87 lower you would be low to mid 60's tops reving 6200 rpm. |

I wouldn't put a LWP on the engine until you get the various details figured out. Those boats run really nice without a cone. They "can" run better with a LPW, but not much, and they need to be setup correctly to gain anything from a LWP. Get all your RMP, Speed, Water pressure, Engine heights, Gear case gear ratios figured out first. Then if you feel you can gain from raising the engine higher, go for the LWP. Better yet - see if you can borrow a case that has a cone already installed. Then you can compare. But - you really need to know where you are starting from with the above info - otherwise your going to be chasing your tail around the lake. Good luck - |

Let's see a pic of the prop, maybe it's been mis-identified. |

I've found the Iphone app GPS's to pretty accurate. |
