When I bought my boat the guy had just replaced the lower because thebekld one had an argument with a rock and lost..since he put the new one on he said it doesn't spin as high with the 26 big ear chopper.
I have a good foot off an 89 excel, is the gearing better in that foot than the 200 pro-v? Could this lower unit on my boat have crappy gear ratio? I have gone through my motor with a fine tooth comb and nothing at all seems to be working less than perfect. It's the last thing I can think of that may be what is keeping my voyager below 70...other than the possibility (and this is NOT a long shot) that I am a horrible driver lol and just haven't learned to drive my boat yet haha
I have to go pick up the old lower unit that he cracked...the gears are aparently still like new, he just removed the skeg and bottom half of the foot so I can maybe count the teeth on my gears and if it is..I can install the nose cone and lwp onto the excel foot or swap gears from the old foot into the new one.
Thanks in advance for any yammy info I am seriously lacking in.

the excel should have 1.87:1 gears, the pro v might have 2:1 :?:

Both those lowers should be 1.86:1....the 150's had a 2:1 but if both are original they should be the same ratio.
