I'v been looking for a lower upgrade for my excel,, i was thinking of a bob's nose cone,http://www.bobsmachine.com/Products/Nose_Cone_Bigfoot.cfm, either on my case or a new SEI http://www.sterndrive.cc/lowerunits.htm,,

but i am wondering if a newer 2.6l v-max lwp unit would fit? and what other options are out there?

I ran a Bob's on mine...worked great. There is no 2.6 LWP vmax case...there is a short in-shore case that does have LWP but they are very rare. Any 2.6 or v4 case will bolt on...

what case should i keep my eye out for? are the v4 cases smaller? or is my best route getting a bobs on mine,,? my concern with that is putting a nose cone on my case and the skeg flying off or something letting go inside,,,i really dont know anything about the lower unit i have other then its old, lol

I'd check and make sure the skeg is original then put a bobs on it....my 225 is only a year newer than yours...age is no big deal if they're in good shape.

I put a Bobs dual hose on mine. Worked great.
Welded it. Not glued.

Tonnes of pressure at hight - even with the standard holes open. I ran both - just in case of weeds.

You've got lots to do as it is. Get the whole thing together. Then worry about LWPs

LOL

One step at a time Grasshopper.
