you should be able to get 1.5" below without a lwp. Try blocking off the top intake holes on both sides of the lower with eopxy of silicone. 5 minute epoxy is faster lol. Holw old is your impeller? sounds like you are running pretty good already btw, solo you should hit 75 mph the way it is.

I'll block those off tonite BEAVAE. The motor was rebuilt 4 years ago and has JUST been broken in. Impeller has a season on it, but we're going to check it tomorrow. We'll try 1.5".
